20th October 2010
On Wednesday 29 September the Year 10 and 11 Drama GCSE students participated in a fantastic mask workshop.
We had been to the theatre the night before to see Meta Morpho Theatre Company perform Devil in the Detail and had come away from the play feeling very inspired and impressed.
Mask theatre is very physical and the actors must use their whole body to create expression since the masks remain unchanged throughout. The workshop taught the girls how to communicate emotion when wearing a mask and through a range of exercises the workshop leader, James Greaves, who was also one of the actors the night before, explained how characters can be developed and created.
The girls thoroughly enjoyed themselves and learnt a lot.
