Andrew Baird, Executive Chef at Longueville Manor, who is a member of the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts (RACA), has teamed up with Jersey College for Girls to deliver sessions in the classroom which range in content from a taste and sensory session to advanced practical cookery masterclasses. The RACA is Britain’s leading professional association of Head Chefs. The Academy is currently running an ‘Adopt a School’ national charity initiative. The aim is to teach children in a holistic way – about food, cookery, food provenance, food growing, healthy eating, nutrition, hygiene, table etiquette and the importance of eating together. Andrew will be at Jersey College for Girls to do a masterclass on fish cookery on Wednesday 8th February 1030 till 1200 with 60 GCSE Food & Nutrition students. It is hoped that the opportunity to attend these sessions can be extended to students at other island secondary schools in the near future.
