Jersey College for Girls student Charlie Miles has been awarded a prestigious Arkwright Scholarship in recognition of her work in Design & Technology and her outstanding potential as a future Engineer.
Chosen from a field of 1600 students, Charlie was one of only 400 nationally to receive a scholarship. She successfully convinced the Arkwright panel by achieving highly in the two hour aptitude test paper last February, followed by a challenging interview at Bath University in July. The interview panel was particularly impressed by her innovative GCSE project. Charlie designed and made a working prototype of a buggy to travel around the boundary of a cricket field, periodically marking the limit with a sprayed line.
