Duke of Edinburgh at JCG

The Duke of Edinburgh award is available to any interested students in Year 9 and above.

Employers value this award as those who achieve it have demonstrated self-motivation, commitment, team skills and independence.

Year 9 can start with their Bronze Award which can be completed in a minimum of 6 months.
In each award students have to complete a period of volunteering, skill acquisition and physical recreation, as well as completing a practice and qualifying expedition. The bronze expedition is undertaken on island while the Silver Award group go off island for their expedition.
We currently have 70 girls involved in the Bronze Award from Year 9 and 70 girls from Year 10 and 11 involved in the Silver Award. JCG also offer the award to sixth form as part of the enrichment programme and currently have 10 Y12 students taking part. It is fantastic to see so many girls getting involved in the Scheme.
