Jersey College For Girls Joins Girls' Schools Association

Wednesday 17th May 2017

Head girl and deputy

The Principal of Jersey College for Girls, Carl Howarth, is the latest school leader to join the Girls' Schools Association, which represents the heads of UK leading independent girls' schools and promotes the benefits of girls being taught in a girls-only environment.
During a recent accreditation visit to assess the suitability of JCG, the GSA assessors had various meetings with a wide range of staff and students, observed lessons and also met representatives of the Governing Body.
Jane Carroll, the Membership Director, reported at the end of this visit that, 'JCG is an amazing place. The students are so articulate, confident and grounded. The staff are clearly passionate, talented and deeply care. Both students and staff genuinely enjoy being at JCG and really feel they belong. We felt and saw such a strong sense of community. We would be delighted for JCG to join the GSA and feel the College has lots to offer us.'
Commenting on his appointment, Carl Howarth said:
"Leading an all-girls school and working with such an impressive and caring team of colleagues is a daily privilege. Joining the GSA network of leading girls' schools across the UK, which works so hard for its members, will be very beneficial to our students and staff. We are excited about the opportunities our membership will bring, the schools and head teachers we will meet and share best practice with, and the welcome we will give to all those who visit Jersey."
Charlotte Avery, President (2017) of the GSA, said:
"We are delighted to welcome Carl and Jersey College for Girls to the GSA and look forward to introducing him to our network of heads and other expert educationalists."
