JCG Tour de Jersey - we made it! Over £5000 raised so far!

JCG Tours De Jersey

Staff and students have started to cycle 250 miles over five days to support the Stroke Association.
The idea came together following an inspirational assembly given by Tracy O’Regan, from The Stroke Association, where she spoke passionately about her brother who suffered a stroke aged just 21 and the huge impact this traumatic event had on both her brother and the whole family. Tracy is the mother of Siobhan who is currently in Year 13. Tracy’s presentation touched all who listened and immediately inspired us to do something. One of the fundraising events run by the Stoke Association is the London to Paris cycle ride. We decided to organise our own version of ‘London to Paris’, to cover a similar mileage (250 miles) in five days: JCG Tour de Jersey 2014. After five days the girls, and staff, were exhausted but still in very high spirits. Throughout the week there were certainly lots of challenges. However, the students demonstrated huge resilience and determination completing the 250 miles as a group. There were certainly moments where we are sure some students felt like giving in but it is a huge credit to them that they persevered. Working with these students for the week and seeing this determination in action was inspiring and a very humbling experience.

 What the Stroke association does….
The Stroke Association funds research. This research is crucial in:-

Finding new ways to prevent a stroke from happening
Funding new research, or improving existing treatments for those people who have had a stroke
Improving the quality of life for people affected by a stroke
Understanding how the brain works and changes after a stroke
Helping doctors, nurses and other health and social care professionals convince commissioners to provide appropriate and effective services to help the 150,000 people in the UK who have a stroke each year
We aim to raise £5000, if you would like to donate please visit www.justgiving.com/JCG

If you would like to find out more about the work the Stroke Association does please visit www.stroke.org.uk In addition to raising money we hope to raise the awareness of the work that the Stroke Association does in both Jersey and across the UK.
